For as long as he can remember, music has always been
an integral part of Courtney Waugh’s life. At 16, he formed
a music group with a few friends called, Boys In Effect.
Born and raised in the midst of the sunshine city of
Portmore, prolific singer - songwriter Courtney Waugh is
intent on using his music to heal. He goes by the stage
name, Him-pac, the name is inspired by his all time
favorite - American rapper, activist and actor 2PAC.
Waugh pay homage by creating his name from the word
impact (H.I.M.P.A.C representing Haile Selassie Imperial
Majesty and 2PAC).
Him-pac’s music be categorized into Dancehall, R&B and
Reggae infused with smooth R&B vocals and close
harmonies into contemporary rhythms. His hopeful lyrics
and melodies reflects on unpredictable real-life situations.
After surviving a fatal accident in 1998, Him-pac has since
dedicated his music to uplift and empower the new
generation. He has worked with well - known producers
in the music industry such as Mikey Steer of Walkway 30
Productions - Steer has produced for the likes of LUST
group and Mad Cobra. Him-pac passion for music was
kindled the revolutionary sounds of artists like Bob
Marley, Dennis Brown and Sizzla.
Building a conscious reputation for himself, Him-pac is
signed to his own record label, Warriers Production along
with his artist D’emhar. Him-pac has been on the music
scene professionally since 2001, steadily making strides
with his music. He also owns a clothing brand of the same
name. In 2021, Him-pac released his first of seven EP
titled, Natural Mystic Vol 1. - His philosophy in life is Don’t
just exist, transform lives.
